Interior design for Mares, The Hague: make it your own
Your seaside apartment already has a carefully chosen foundation. How do you make it blend with your own furniture, art, and way of living? Rive Home turns individual interior choices into a personal whole.
Build on what is already there. In an apartment that comes with a kitchen and bathroom, the design question often lies in the spaces in between. How does the dining table connect to the kitchen area? Where does your art come into its own? And how do you make a bright living room feel cozy in the evening?
Mares at the Derde Haven in The Hague offers apartments and penthouses with personal guidance via TKI for kitchens and bathroom fittings. The project website mentions occupancy starting from the beginning of 2028. Rive Home is independent of this project organization. We advise individual residents on their interior design and potential additions, using your own contract documents as a starting point.

What is included, and what would you like to add?
We start with the selected kitchen, bathroom fittings, flooring options, and finishes. Your designer will bring these together on a material board, alongside photos of furniture that you are keeping. This makes it clear whether wood tones reinforce each other and what color or texture might be missing. An additional design does not have to mean replacing existing choices.
For a showroom appointment, we prepare concrete questions: does the table match the kitchen, how high-maintenance is the worktop, and which fabric feels comfortable? Choices handled via TKI or the buyer coordinator remain managed there. We agree in advance on the support you expect from us.
A glass wall is no reason to orient everything outwards
The view may be important, but a conversation at the table or a quiet reading nook also deserves attention. We draw up a layout for daily use and for visitors. The route to the terrace remains clear, even when chairs are pushed back. Low furniture can maintain a line of sight without giving up all storage space.
In the evening, a large glass area changes character. That is why curtains, targeted lighting, and soft surfaces are included from the start. We examine where lamps might reflect and what level of privacy you desire. We coordinate attachment to the facade or ceiling with the building requirements; we select outdoor products with the supplier based on their actual usage environment.
A clear distinction between project work and your interior
We create an overview with three columns: what the development team provides, what Rive Home can handle, and what you arrange yourself. This also includes measurement appointments, decision dates, and dependencies. A cabinet is only finalized for order after checking relevant dimensions and connections.
Design, products, and agreed-upon installation or finishing are budgeted transparently. This allows you to set priorities: for example, a good living room and wardrobe first, and a guest room later. The goal is an apartment that supports your life, not the longest possible list of additions.

Questions about your interior in Mares
Can you provide guidance in addition to TKI?
Yes, as an independent advisor for your personal interior. We will clarify in advance which choices remain with the project organization and what our additional assignment entails.
Should I replace the kitchen that is provided?
No. We first examine how the chosen kitchen can integrate with your dining area, furniture, and materials. Adjustments only make sense if they align with your wishes and the possibilities.
When can the furnishing and installation be scheduled?
The general project forecast is not a final moving date. We will coordinate orders, measurements, and installation with your confirmed completion, access, and supplier schedule.
