Slachthuis Suites Haarlem: interior design and fit-out

A suite with character requires a plan that brings the old and the new together. Rive Home assists you with the kitchen, bathroom, materials, and finishing, with respect for the existing architecture and insight into the execution.

Discuss your property

A shell apartment offers freedom, but it also requires cohesion. Where will the kitchen go, how should the bathroom connect to the bedroom, and what finishes will bring out the character of your suite? We help you answer these questions together before individual suppliers begin their work.

Slachthuis Suites consists of thirteen apartments in the former Director’s House and Canteen at the Slachthuis site in Haarlem. According to the project FAQ, the residences are delivered as shells, including installations but excluding kitchen and bathroom fittings. The indicative planning mentions February 2027 for the (preliminary) completion. Please have the exact finishes and date of your suite confirmed by the seller.

Define what 'shell' means for your suite

The shell specification differs from home to home. We examine the technical specifications, installation drawings, and delivery state alongside your living requirements. Where are the water and electrical connections located? What wall finishes are included? What facilities are still missing in the bathroom? These starting points determine the design freedom and the work we need to budget for.

We develop the kitchen, bathroom, and lighting in cohesion. A beautiful layout is only functional if connections, ventilation, doors, and walking space fit properly. Relocations or structural interventions are first technically coordinated. We ensure any necessary permissions are checked before the work is finalized.

Not every wall needs to be a showstopper

In a heritage conversion, the existing character deserves space. We investigate which elements are present in your own suite and which sightlines you wish to preserve. A cabinetry wall can add storage space without overpowering a window or a special detail. Quiet surfaces can actually make historical elements stand out more strongly.

It doesn’t have to result in a prescribed industrial style. Your taste can be warm, bold, or understated. Using actual samples, we compare wood, stone, tiling, metal, and fabrics. Your designer can accompany you to showrooms, ensuring that kitchen fronts and bathroom finishes are chosen from the same design vision.

From kitchen and bathroom choices to a viable sequence

Especially when multiple rooms still need to be furnished, an uncoordinated schedule per supplier can lead to bottlenecks. We map out the dependencies: which measurements must be set first, which connections need to be checked, and when can the floor, kitchen, sanitary ware, and custom work be installed? The final sequence follows from your home and the agreements with the contractors involved.

In addition to the design, Rive Home can manage the agreed-upon fit-out and completion. You will receive clarity in advance regarding our role, the parties involved, and the choices that require your approval. We take building limitations and building agreements into account; we do not promise unlimited adaptability of heritage features.

A budget that goes beyond the price of the kitchen

For a shell suite, we also look at preparation, installation adjustments, wall and floor finishes, lighting, transport, and assembly. We break down the design, products, and work and identify which amounts are still estimates. This allows you to prioritize without discovering later that necessary work fell outside the budget.

A suitable starting point

  • The floor plan and technical specifications of your suite.
  • An overview of included installations and finishes.
  • Your requirements for kitchen, bathroom, storage, and lighting.
  • Your budget range and expected handover and moving dates.

Questions about your interior at Slachthuis Suites

Can you design the kitchen and bathroom together?

Yes. We can include both spaces in a single project, with matching materials, lighting, and custom work. The technical specifications of your suite will be verified first. We will then determine which design development and implementation services are included.

Am I allowed to alter monumental parts?

That is not a matter of course. For each proposed intervention, we have the technical requirements and any necessary consent conditions verified. The design is tailored to what is feasible; we do not present monumental components as being freely adaptable.

When do I start if the suite has not yet been delivered?

You can begin with current drawings and completion specifications. Material choices and layout options can often be prepared in advance. We will coordinate final measurements, orders, and execution based on access to the property and confirmed project agreements.
