What does an interior architect cost for a complete home?

Rive Home works with a fixed quote per project. The amount depends on the agreed-upon services: an interior design only is a different assignment than a design with custom detailing and project management. Furthermore, a quote for design is not automatically the total furnishing budget.

Discuss your project and quote

How is a fixed project quotation determined?

A useful price starts with a description of the assignment. Which rooms are included, what needs to change, and how far should the plans be developed? Existing drawings, choices already made, and the desired level of guidance also determine the amount of work required.

Rive Home provides a fixed quotation per project for this. There is no general amount on this page, because without that demarcation, it would not be clear what you are getting in return. During the discussion of your plans, it is determined which activities belong in the proposal.

Keep design and execution separate

Budget component Examples Check in the proposal
Design and development Layout, material choices, visualizations, lighting and custom work details Which plans and drawings you receive and which rooms are included
Guidance Consultation, coordination with suppliers, and involvement during execution The moments, activities, and boundaries of that guidance
Construction and installation Finishing, electricity, assembly, and work by specialized parties Who is quoting, who is executing, and what is already included in other assignments
Materials and furnishings Flooring, furniture, fixtures, curtains, and cabinets Delivery, assembly, transport, and any additional costs

Explicitly ask which of these components the quotation includes. This prevents the same work from being budgeted twice or an important item from being overlooked.

Why two complete homes still require different quotations

A complete home says something about the number of rooms, but little about the complexity. Keeping an existing kitchen and floor, combined with a new furniture and color plan, requires a different approach than a shell property requiring a new kitchen, lighting plan, and built-in furniture.

The number of alternatives to be explored also counts. If a layout has already been determined, attention can be directed toward detailing. If the kitchen, dining area, and staircase position still need to be investigated, the work begins earlier in the process. A larger number of square meters is therefore not the only factor.

An example without a misleading package price

Suppose you want to unify a living room, kitchen, and hallway. In a first variant, the kitchen and floor are kept, and you are looking for a layout and material proposal. In a second variant, a new cabinet wall, a detailed lighting plan, and consultation with contractors are added. It concerns the same home, but two different assignments.

Therefore, request a comparison based on activities: which components are necessary for your goal, which can be done later, and which guidance do you want to do yourself? This is a hypothetical example to evaluate a quotation, not a realized case or price indication.

Seven questions before you compare quotations

  1. Are the same rooms and activities included?
  2. Which drawings, proposals, and specifications will you receive?
  3. How are feedback and adjustments managed during the process?
  4. Are site visits and consultations with other parties included?
  5. What falls under guidance, and what remains with the contractor or supplier?
  6. Are VAT, delivery, and assembly clearly stated where applicable?
  7. How are additional requirements discussed and budgeted after agreement?

A low amount is only comparable when the content is comparable. Also, establish which version of the design forms the basis for orders and execution.

What should you bring for a suitable proposal?

Bring your floor plan, the rooms you want to address, the desired completion period, and a rough overall budget direction. Indicate which amounts have already been committed to the kitchen, floor, or other suppliers. This makes it clear what portion remains available for design, further choices, and execution.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Rive Home work with an hourly rate or a fixed price?

Rive Home works with a fixed quote per project. The scope of the assignment and the desired outcome determine the content of that quote.

Are furniture and the contractor included in the design quote?

That does not follow automatically from a design commission. Check separately which products, implementation tasks, and guidance are included in the proposal and by which party they are provided.

Is a quote for a complete home a price per square meter?

At Rive Home, quotes are prepared on a project-by-project basis. Surface area is a factor, but the complexity, number of rooms, level of detail, and level of guidance also determine the scope of the assignment.

What if I want to add extra spaces after approval?

First, define what the expansion entails and what its consequences are for work, planning, and price. A fixed quotation must be read in conjunction with the agreed scope of the assignment.
